Weird little white specks on my lager

Tue Jul 14, 2009 8:14 pm

I'm hoping this is just healthy yeast colonies....

Bunch of little white clumps appearing on top of my lager. This is only my second lager pitched cold so I'm not used to how they look yet. The little specs are multiplying so I'm HOPING it's just the pre-kraeusen.

Anyone familiar with that?

One thing to remember lager is a colder ferment so co2 getting out is harder. It is very likely just very fine co2 bubbles.

Thanks, brotha! I should not have defined them as specks. They're about half a dime-sized. But they're growing rapidly now and forming together so I'm assuming it's kraeusen.
