Old smack pack.

I have a smack pack propagator (the 25bil cell pack) of 3787... manufacture date of 04Nov08. I kind of forgot about it.... and pulled it out of the fridge today, and gave her a whack. It's been about 8 hours.. and very... very... minimal inflation. I was thinking about doing a small 500-800ml starter, and then feeding it 800-1000mls more after a day or so.

Is it worth it? The smack has illustrated very very very low viability... Anyone have experience w/ nursing one of these back after 6-7 months?

I've done them over a year old successfully. Because of presumed low viability, I would start with only 200-300 ml of well oxygenated starter wort, let it ferment out and then add a liter of wort. Once that ferments out I would add another liter or two depending on the OG of the beer you plan to brew.

So pretty much the same drill as bringing it up from a bottle culture. Thanks Bug.
