Pitch entire starter or just cake

Sat Jun 20, 2009 10:59 am

I started my starter just over 48 hours ago and left it on the stirplate for approximately 18 hours. I put it in the refridgerator since I'm making a N. German alt and wanted to keep it clean by just using the cake. However, the starter is showing a lot of activity in the fridge. Should I just pitch the whole thing because of that, or should I still only use the cake as planned?

I figured it was pretty unlikely that I'd get a response before I pitched, but took a shot. I was right, but your suggestion is the direction I chose to go.

Thanks for the response anyway.
