Bad FG now that I temp control.

So I started using a fridge to Ferment in....

I set it up to be 70 degrees.... and put my last 2 beers in there... and I think there is an issue.

I had been going well (without temp controled fermentation) averaging about 1.011 FG on my Pale Ales that I have been Brewing..

This week both beers have finished about 1.015.... What has changed it....

The only thing that I haven't check is my Refractormeter... Maybe it needs to be re-calibrated???

Any thoughts? :bnarmy:

How long are you fermenting for?
At colder temps the yeast will be less active and your beer will ferment slower.
Have you changed any other part of your process or recipe besides temp control?

Wyeast London ESB 1968....

Haven't really changed anything... It was in the car boy for 2 1/2 weeks to ferment... The first week (as Usual) it had normal activity... It all seemed to be doing it things... There seems to be nothing really different in my process... The 2 big changes in my process as of late are that I got a new Stainless steele brew kettle and the Temp controled frementaion....

My OG's are fine.

Should I pump the temp up to maybe 72 or 74 for my next batch... is 70 too cool? Will 2 degrees really make that much of a difference.... What else could be affecting the FG.

Are you sure you are at 70F? You might want to double check that with a tested and trusted thermometer. I think my Ranco reads a couple of degrees low compared to my instant-read thermometers. Anyone know how/if possible to adjust a Ranco's temp reading?

What was your OG? How old was the pitch? 1968 is a low attenuating yeast strain. Even at 70 degrees I think the best I have ever gotten out of it was about 68% attenuation.

Wow dude... You nailed it... The OG was 1051.... So I got about 69%

Maybe.... I am also going to not rely on my radco for temp... I will get an indipendant thermometer... I have a Digital Thermometer in my humidor... I wonder if that will work. Well I will wait a week... taste.. and see... But maybe I will be ok... 1015 isn't bad... I had just hoped for better
