first brew in my new place

Thu Sep 01, 2011 10:20 am

Hey Guys,

I am a pretty new brewer in general, I have done about 10 batches before, but this is the first batch I have done in my new place and the first batch I have done in over two years. I decided to make a heffeweissen, so I took the dregs from a bottle of weinstefaner and made a starter with it.

The brew day itself seemed to go along fine, I don't think that I made any glaring mistakes along the way there, however it has been about 15 hours since I finished my brew session and I have seen no real signs of fermentation. Furthering my worries I just notices a thin film that had developed on the top of my beer. I am hoping for re-assurance that everything is ok with my beer. But please let me know if I have screwed this up beyond repair.

How big was your starter? How many steps or did you just dump dregs in a 1 or 2 quart wort? How many bottles of dregs?

What does it look like now? Sometimes yeast just getting into gear can create a very thin layer of yeast that looks like a film on the surface then soon you're clearly fermenting .......
