WLP 080 cream ale blend question

I would like to hear from people that have used this yeast and would like to know know what that best fermentation temps are for this. I know that White Labs says 65 to 70 but how true is this, as what the masses do? I am thinking of fermenting a cream ale with this yeast and am thinking about fermenting it @ 60 F, what would those that have used this yeast recommend when it comes to using this yeast?

I recently brewed a cream ale and used this yeast. The OG was about 1.042, and I fermented it at around 60-65 and it turned out well( I still have no means of active temp. control, so that is the current temp. in my basement ). I didn't even make a starter, because I forgot to do it the day before and still really wanted to brew. Beer came out nice and crisp, with a good mild flavor. I purchased another vial of this, and I'm going to see how the same recipe comes out using a starter. Good Luck,

It's a bit more lager-like. I got a hint of sulphur smell coming from the airlock for a few days during primary, but it went away quickly. I was impressed with how quickly it started and how thoroughly it fermented, given the lack of a starter(plus the relatively low ferment temp.). I believe that this blend actually does contain both lager and ale strains, to produce Lager characteristics at ale temps - kind of like a Kolsch yeast.

I have this one on C02 now and will be ready to drink in about a week, I tasted the sample when I kegged it and it tasted great (maybe one of my best beers yet) but the final test will be after it has fully carbed up. It has been 3 weeks and I will pull my first drink from this on week 4 (this sunday.) :aaron

I just brewed up another batch of cream ale with this stuff - the last batch went very quickly, as it is the beer of choice for my lager drinking friends. I think I'll be making this one pretty regularly.
