1056 clear time

Wed Mar 30, 2011 9:56 am

Just trying to get an idea of how long it takes the average brewer to get 1056 or 001 to be clear. It seems like when I crash my beer to 33º it still takes forever for it to clear. After fermentation how many days does it take your brew at 33º to clear up? Not perfectly clear but acceptable clarity.

Cal ale yeast does take some time. I have had up to 14 days before waiting for crystal clearness. Acceptable clarity probably within 7 days though. If you have the chance to cold crash your beer in primary for 48 hrs before racking to keg this will give you an acceptable clarity on the first pour providing you have a good racking experience. Crystal clarity within 5 days. That is with no extra finings besides irish moss and even when brewing an IPA with 5 oz of dry hops.
