That sounds like the best idea. The fermentation has not started just yet so I dont think there was a whole lot of co2 to kill what might have been coming in. My one hope is that cap stayed on the fermentor, just the bubbler came off, so maybe the small whole, didn't let in anything too damaging.

I've had bubblers blow out of carboys twice in my closet and both times the beer was great. (The cleaning project was not!) I wouldn't worry. Pretend everything is ok, ferment it out and taste it.

Just to clarify, the CO2 won't kill stuff coming in, but will prevent dust and lighter particles from falling in due to the positive pressure. It's blowing CO2 out of the airlock, so anything light enough will be blown back up into the air and carried away from teh opening.
