Frozen bacteria and brett

I received some Flanders yeasts in the mail and they were frozen solid. Whities say a yeast starter may wake up the Sacc. Does anyone have experience with frozen bacteria-brett and waking them up, or are they lost? They were solid probably 4-5 days.

I would make a starter chill it then decant and drink the starter to see if its good. When in doubt toss it out. 7 hour brew day + 30$+ is worth more then a vial of yeast.
