Oxidized Oak Chips

Wed Mar 17, 2010 2:03 am

Oxidation Protocol -- No Splashes Requried:

1. Hang a bag of oak chips in secondary

2. Cover the carboy with a hood, such that a small air leak exists where the string from the oak bag exits the carboy

3. Decide your beer has enough oak flavor and pull the beer-soaked oak out of the beer, into the layer of oxygen hovering at the top of the carboy

4. 24 hours later, change your mind and dunk the now oxidized oak back into the beer.

5. Repeat for desired level of carboard
