Economy Oxygenation kit experience

Mon Jan 25, 2010 10:26 am

I was thinking about purchasing the Economy Oxygenation kit from Northern Brewer seen here:

http://www.northernbrewer.com/brewing/brewing-equipment/fermenting-equipment/aeration/economy-oxygenation-kit-w-regulator-and-stone.html

Does anyone have any experience using this? How long do I let it run? Does the regulator have multiple settings or is it more on/off? Has it improved your beer any?

thanks,

I purchased one on ebay similar to this...you can dial in the setting to liters per minute, add a tank and a stone and you should be ready to go:

Will that regulator fit on a disposable hardware store oxygen tank?

Thanks!

Couldn't tell you, I got mine at the local Airgas store...just took the regulator in told them what I needed and they hooked me up.

I have one, use it, and it works fine. I go 1 minute at a medium flow rate: ie nice healthy flow but not full blast. Works great.

Nope. The NB regulator and stone is the way to go for the disposable tanks.

I also have one of the medical regulators. Received as a gift though with the adapter already hooked up. I've got an e-mail in to the guy that gave me the set up to see if he can tell me the exact parts needed.

Flow rate is important. I am upgrading that style of regulator and home depot oxygen bottles to a medical oxygen bottle and a medical regulator for 2 reasons, 1) bigger oxygen bottle, 2) controllable flow rate.

If you get the regulator / stone in your link, consider also getting something like this:

The brewing equipment forum has a good thread called "oxygen cylinders"
