Burlington, VT - this is going to be a bad choice.

Sat Jun 23, 2007 11:32 pm

Hey all,
I am a homebrewer in Burlington, VT (although, it looks like my all grain setup is going to be going into my fathers house in NH... regardless). I love Burlington, and the great beer scene that is available in this area/town/state (its all the same thing, really). I haven't penetrated (i can tell a few of you guys will have way to much fun with that word choice. yes. i said penetrated) the home brew scene up here yet.. except for lurking around the home brew shops and nice breweries and brewpubs in the area.

Minimash brewer... going all grain after I pick up some more equip in July, so I've been gleaning any and all information I can from the web (sadly, that DOES include the BN archives).

I know joining up here at the BN forum is going to be a terrible choice in the long run... I am scared to even pretend to start to associate with the types of shenanigans I have been listening to in the archives. I apologize, I am back listening to the 'honesty and all grain' episode... but that still hasn't driven me to really express what i think about this community

haha, just kidding all, looking forward to some stimulating (let me assert the fact that i am straight, right here, right now) conversation, and enlightening homebrew perspectives. I hope you guys don't shun my east coast and damn near Canadian (I mean, I'm pretty close) perspective.

Welcome!
I'll be up in you're area for vacation in a for weeks, closer to Burlington but I'll head north for a day or two since I just found out that the Vermont Brewer's festival will be going on while I'm in the area. So where's the LHBS up there? I don't have one here so I know what souvenirs I'll be shopping for!

Yeah, I'm excited for the VT Brewer's Fest. It looks like its going to be really nice/bigger this year. Not too many accommodation's for home brewers... but dash it all, I'll be drinking craft anyway.

If you are in Burlington, the LHBS Is actually in Winooski. It's about 5-10 mins from where the Fest will be (it's a small area). If you want more specific directions, PM me. There is also one in Barre VT, which is about 10-15 minutes off of 89 as you head north to Burlington (that is, if you are coming this way). That LHBS is a little smaller, and might be missing some things you might consider nec. as an AG brewer.

When you make it into town, go to American Flatbread on St. Paul st. right in Downtown Burlington. Vermont Pub and Brewery is great, but Flatbreads beers (their own, and their import list/guest taps) are by far the best selection in town.

Cheers,

thanks, I'll send a PM in a week or 2 (closer to the trip) to pick your brain about LHBS, brewpubs etc.
