Brewing Solo in Rural OK

Tue Apr 24, 2007 6:51 am

Hello to the group. I have been lurking for a while, trying to catch up on all the Sunday podcast... funny sht.... good info. I brewed my first batch in 88 with blue ribbon malt and bakers yeast... I have been doing all grain for the last decade or so. We moved to rural OK a couple of years ago, so I have been brewing solo since. The podcast and forum has been a lifesaver.... keep it up!

Welcome to the craziness! I too am the only brewer in a tiny rural community here in Nebraska. Fortunately it's only about a 45 minute trip to get to our brew club meetings or to the homebrew shop. I also got started with Blue Ribbon Malt and bread yeast. I did my first batch of that back in 1972.

Welcome to the BN :D

In a similar situation here, closest homebrew club is 90 minutes away, 2.5 hours for a homebrew shop. One day shipping from Northern Brewer though

Welcome Big. This is a great forum. Lots of info and plenty of fun.

Where are you at in SE OK? I lived in Broken Bow for about 1 1/2 years. Now up closer to OKC.

Many Thanks fellas,
Closest Brewshop: 2.5 hrs, Closest homebrewer: 2.5hrs probably, Closest Micro: Petes Place, Krebs OK 45 mins... thank god... Closest Club 2.5 hrs. (or maybe as close as my keyboard)

TrevMoon: I am in Harmony OK now, its a suburb of Atoka  But we moved down here from OKC/Edmond. Good club there (HPD) and a lot of good guys. I grew up in Hugo, now you know where that is if your from the Broken Bow area.... I wonder if the Hilltop Bar is still open!
