Hello All,

I started extract brewing about 6 years ago after reading Pappa Charlies book. I made some (what I thought then) great beers, some mediocre brews and one that went down the drain. About a year ago I decided to get serious and try my hand at all grain. Shortly thereafter a co-worker told me about the Brewing Network and I have never been the same!!

I have since learned about all the terrible habits I had picked up and am slowly learned how to brew like the big boys. I have built a counterflow chiller, mash tun (5 gallon igloo--damn I wish I did a 10 gal), purchased a fermwrap and a Ranco controller. The BN got me doing yeast starters, improved my sanitation immensely and has given me thousands of little tips.

I am drinking a pint of my IPA, it's the fifth time I have brewed the same recipe. The last 3 times it has come out pretty much the same. I have 3 gallons of a Belgian Dark Strong that have been in the bottle now for 6 weeks, I may crack one open next for the first tasting. Fingers crossed.

I am able to listen to podcasts at work and am working through all the back episodes. I already listened to all of that, um, other show. :unicornrainbow: = :nutters: & :asshat:

Thanks to the BN for all the great info and thanks to the BN army for prompting so many great discussions. I am excited to be a new forum member.

Wow! Cool. Sounds like you really got bit by the all grain bug. Whats next a motorized beer dispenser?

Good to see us Washington homebrewers are growing in numbers. Such a fun and inebriating hobby. :aaron

Ha, I wish. I got an oxygenation stone and the setup to go on an O2 bottle... maybe I'll sit in a little red wagon and drink beer and call that my motorized dispenser.
