+1 to getting to know your LHBS and ask them questions but also this is a treasure trove of info. I'm still diving into the hobby myself and have gotten invaluable advice from the asshats here.

Good luck! Not only in brewing but in joining this network. :)

Welcome and good luck with the first brew. Make sure you have your second one planned so you'll have something ready to go when you finish this first one!
