BeerSmith is the best one that I have used. You can download a free 20 day trial and see if you like it but it has been the most comprehensive that I have yet to see on my Mac. Its great that it is multi platform because I have a Mac here at home and a PC over in the brewery so it allows me to work on recipes and such both places.

Haven't used Alchemy so I can't speak to it but I do enjoy BeerSmith2.0 quite a bit. It's even nicer that when you purchase a license, you get 2 keys. So I have it on my iMac but then also on my Windows laptop for actual brew day to run calculations in the garage and not have to run in the house.

I have tried the beer alchemy app for the Iphone and I really didn't like it. I have not used the full version on a mac but so I can't speak to how well it works but I have used BeerSmith and love it. I also have it on my mac in the house and loaded on my windows laptop for recipes on the go.

I use Beer Alchemy because I like having the software on my iPhone so I always have my inventory and information at my fingertips.

The upside to Beer Alchemy is the mobility version (if you are an iPhone use) and it is fairly robust.

The downside is the developer of the software it not extremely responsive to bugs in the software. I report a bug in the scale up about a year and a half ago and it is yet to be fixed.
