No brewing expeience yet

Sat Dec 03, 2011 2:34 pm

Hi all
Never brewed a drop in my life except some hard cider once. Looks like a lot of knowledgeable people here so I guess I am in a good spot to start my reading. I'll try to read enough to keep my questions and comments from being repetitive and or stupid. I look forward to meeting you in the forum.

Welcome

Ask away. There are a lot of knowledgeable folks on this board. There is absolutely nothing brewing related that somebody on this board can't answer.

Get a couple books - Palmer's How to Brew, Marty Nachel's Homebrewing for Dummies (great book for beginners, despite the 'Dummies' series), and Jamil Z & John Palmer's Brewing Classic Styles books. Papazian's book is good too, but more out of date. Then, get your equipment and get addicted, um, I mean started.

Two rules: Always brew Bugeaters recipes. Never brew Justin's. :asshat:

I'm kinda new too, though I've done a half a dozen or so batches at this point. Big thing to remember in the beginning: Relax. Barley *wants* to become beer.

Cheers!

Welcome! I was a forum lurker/archive listener for about 6 months before I brewed my first batch three years ago. Now I'm all growns up and brew on a 10 gallon all grain system at around 100 gallons per year. This is the best hobby ever, and there's a TON of knowledge here in the forum and on the various shows to help you make some dang good beer. Cheers! (and get to brewing).
