I use a lagering fridge, but I do know people who lager in their garages and basements. My basement can range anywhere from 55 to 70 during the year. I enjoy my dopplebock and oktoberfest, but otherwise I'm not too into lagers. I make a corn&rice beer for my summer BBQ to keep the swill drinkers happy in the heat, and then one more random lager.
I actually don't mind the temperature range. I always say the freezing your nuts off in the winter makes you appreciate the spring more. We're not too far off the coast, so it doesn't get too cold- not like my trip to Minnesota when it was 15 below zero without the wind chill.
