First Batch Ferments

Sun Oct 14, 2007 4:39 pm

So my maiden batch ferments ... psyched. I've been trolling the forums for knowledge for a while now and finally signed up. Good stuff here, especially for a newbie of my kind. Currently battling the Florida heat trying to keep my carboy at a decent temperature. And that about sums me up. See you in the posts. Any other Tampa area brewers here?

I started with the B3 American Pale Ale extract kit. Going good so far. I can't believe i haven't been brewing my own beer longer. Someone got me a sake kit a few months back and after that finished up I was going to brew a large amoutn of sake unitl i realized that i don't really drink sake ... so logically I decided on something i love and drink often ... beer.

This first batch is killer though ... i need to learn patience :D

Welcome to the insanity! Congrats on the first brew. I hope you are at least using the wet T-shirt in a tub of water method to keep your fermentation cool.

Patience is definitely a virtue in brewing. The best way of dealing with the anxiety of waiting for your brew to finish is to get another one going. The goal is to always have enough brewing at any one time that you never completely run out of home brew before the next batch is completely ready to drink. 8)

Good luck and Welcome!

I agree with BugEater 100% - Patience is King, keep the pipeline full, don't get lazy on sanitation, and most of all, have fun.

Congratulations and welcome to the obsess.... er, hobby-
