New - from Massachusetts

Hi there!

I'm new to brewing. My buddy and I just did our first batches this weekend. My girlfriend and brew-buddy got me a kit for my birthday (northern brewer deluxe) which is awesome! Since I had to wait for my bday I had a few months to learn the ins and outs so I read through Palmer's online edition (and got the recent hard copy for bday too), listened to more than half the Jamil shows, have listened to quite a few Sunday Sessions, and lurked quite a bit in some home brew forums.

Anywho my first brew was Jamil's extract version of Robust Porter. My buddy did an E.S.B. They're bubbling away now, doing great. I can't wait! I hope to start on a Mild Brown pretty soon. And I'm getting another buddy into brewing too! I helped him convert Jamil's Scottish 60 to extract (thanks to a ProMash, worth every penny) and we'll be brewing those in a few weeks. No idea if I did the conversion right but it seems easy enough.

So I want to thank the BN for all the great info and entertainment. I love the idea of posting recipes and sharing info (I'm a programmer so I'm big on the open source stuff). And I think it's great that there's such a supportive community. I hope to contribute what I can.

Thanks guys&gals

I'm in Western MA, Springfield area. There's a home brew shop in Northampton that I visited but I forgot to ask about clubs. I'm meeting up with some home brewers in my town this weekend for a dinner hosted by Allagash at a local restaurant actually. I'm pretty psyched about that. Thanks for the info though!
