I suspect it's a reference to mystical worship of the Rat Pack and their time in Las Vegas. It's not commonly known but in 1961 at the Xmas holiday the whole pack drunk on a wild bender ending up smashed to the gills and penniless in San Francisco. Rumor has it they were taken in by a kindly stranger who let them all crash on his spare matress until sobered up enough to remember a phone number to call for money. That gentleman I believe lived on the top floor of a building that 35 years later became known as the 21st Amendment.

I believe Shaun found that lost matress known to legend and history as the 'Rat Pad'.
