Daniela's Blonde Ale

Tue Mar 28, 2006 5:54 pm

A couple of people have asked me to post my recipe for the Blonde Ale that I brewed 3 weeks ago....I am more than happy to share and feel very honored about the inquiry. I wanna say thanks to Jon and Justin again for helping me design this recipe...Here you go the hop bill for 10 gallons:

10 lb German Pils
1 lb German Munich
1 lb Carafoam
1 oz Hallertauer (for 60 minutes of the boil)
1 oz Hallertauer (for the last 5 minutes of the boil)
1 oz Hallertauer (for the last minute of the boil)
2 viles California Ale yeast

The extract only went in for 40 minutes.

That's it...pretty simple...just like German beer...

I went to B3's website from what I can tell the 10lbs of German Pils is the Durst LME that’s "made exclusively" for B3. The Munich malt is also Durst.

Am I right in assuming that this is a steeped grain extract recipe vs. a partial mash since no base malts were used?

I ran into a problem inputting the recipe in ProMash. The extract isn't in the database (naturally). Could one of you B3 type's give us the Potential SG and SRM of that extract?

The orignial list is just the grain I used...

And I mashed it for 30 minutes at 152 degrees Fahrenheit....

Right on Daniela...I kept looking at the grain bill thinking this beer is 3.8% at best with this recipe. Looks like a possible contender for an upcoing brew session.

It all makes sense now. Thanx! I'll be brewing this one soon. If Jon or JP could help me out with the numbers for the extract I would appreciate it!

Just curious, why did you use two viles of yeast instead of making a starter out of 1 vial?
