"Touch The Felt (Freakin' Out)" Song

Sun Jan 22, 2006 8:55 pm

As heard on the 01/22/06 show.

I did this over morning coffee, a lot of coffee. Was pleased that most folks enjoyed it. A little background then shall we?
-Drums are looped. Looped 'em with cakewalk on a PC. Real drums but looped none the less.
-Dumped the drums to a Boss BR-8.
-Recorded the bass. No idea or chart, improvised entirely.
-Recorded the guitar, improvised also, on the cue of drums and bass.
-Added percussion embelishment. Congas and egg shakers.
-Dumped it back into cakewalk.

The time consuming part is next. I grabbed the BN archive, coverted it to a wav file. 2gig wav file that is.
-Found the funny stuff and split out four samples.
-Stuck the BN clips in the right places (artistic choice).
-Exported the shebang as a wav.
-Converted to an MP3.

That was easy, no? I am a bass player first and formost so listen to the bass closely for criticisms. I wish I did a full song, but I though less than a minute would be more versitile on a radio show?

Get it here: Touch the Felt (Freakin' Out)

Hey Rich, can you check on that link and make sure it's still valid? It doesn't seem to want to work for me. :)

Oops, sorry if anyones been trying to download touch_the_felt.mp3. About a week or so ago I had a major hardware failure on one of my servers. I have to restore data from a back up and forgot to dump a few files back into place.

Good to go now.
