The BN is a very unique media package. The live podcast with the simultaneous chat creates a unique opportunity for BN'ers to make friends with people around the world and hang out with those friends to have a beer. I've been listening live almost since the beginning and I enjoy and appreciate the friends I've made very much. The Forum supports and enhances those friendships making for a "Perfect Storm" of podcasting.

I'm very happy for the success of the BN, but I'm worried about the continuation of that success. My old tennis coach always told me, "When you're winning the game, don't change the way you're playing it." Recently I've see Justin more often changing the way he's playing it. First, one day off a month, then maybe two, JP standing in, changing the start times, changing the day - none of it bodes well. I could understand better if there were some underlying reason that was improving the experience for the listeners, but from here it looks like it's just for Justin's convenience.

Broadcast programming always schedules weekly shows for the same time on the same day. Consistency is very important and people rely on always knowing when their favorite show is going to air. Broadcasters understand the importance of that consistency, and so should Justin. 60 Minutes was always on Sunday nights for how many decades???

My enthusiasm for the BN has waned in the last year or so and it really pisses me off when I tune in on Sunday at 5PM and find that the start time was changed to 1PM or Monday at 4PM or 5PM or 6PM. I'm not in to constant monitoring of the BN homepage, or Facebook, or Twitter to find out, sometimes at the last minute, when my favorite podcast will air, or won't.

The change to Monday is a bad idea. During the last Monday session, the chat room was about 20% of normal. I only knew a couple of the chatters, and by the end of the show there were only a dozen people in the room. It was weak and disappointing, I pulled the plug early. The Sunday Session is becoming a shadow of its former self. My loyalty to the BN is mirroring the BN's loyalty to me. Pretty soon, I may not bother...

Well stated FLR.......I am NOT pleased at all with the proposed change. Most Mondays I'm getting up at 330am for work, being able to nap a bit on Sunday always made this slightly more bearable, but that won't happen for a Monday night show, I'm lucky to still be walking at 7pm, when the show would be starting for me, I'd only get to listen to the first hour at best, and that hour usually is NOT the infor-MA-tion I'm listening for.

Don't fix what ain't broke!!!! :asshat:

If people are disatisfied with the direction the BN is going they can pull the plug on their monthly donations. Vote with your $, that should get some attention...

I upgraded to Sergeant last week! I know working on weekends blows! I have done it for years and it does affect your personnal life. Beer events are normally on Saturday & Sunday, let the cast recover and pound out a great show on Sunday! No, we all need a life. I listen to about an hour of a Session before I crash. Welcome to the world of Podcast. Oh wait! This show is already a podcast that is one of the few that you can have the option of interacting live with. Some shows I gather lots of info with great entertainment. Some shows, I may only get a snipit of info, for example, a pale white blotch of skin on my penis is from antibiotics or paint. Cool, I will just store that in my memory bank for ever! (Yes, I know it was on Brew Strong)

The phoony laughs and chuckles of the DOW callers, bore the crap out of me, but I don't whine about it because lots of the BN enjoy them.
Maybe I can be a pussy, too and stop my $ contributions the the BN because I don't like the drunk of the week calls. FUCK YOU AND HELL NO, I WON'T !

This show has evolved since 2005, with Justin driving the business. It will continue to evolve!
Thank you, Justin and Cast for busting your ass and offering the BN to every homebrewer!
Take whatever direction you need to keep the BN fired up in your hearts so you can continue to deliver great shows!!!!!

I am happy to get what I get from the BN Army! :jnj

The session is on at 5 pacific on sunday BECAUSE that is the most convenient time for everyone! That is how it started, and why it still is. BUT Big CEO fat cat asshole Crossley wants his weekends back! This is internet radio pal! You can't just go changing dates and times even though 95% of listeners download the podcasts!......Dick!

FLR, well stated. That's what I was getting at, but I have a problem with articulation. I have no problem with JP standing in at all. The time and day is what gets me. I realize the "special" shows like the Super Bowl show and similar; fine and great.

Whatever motive he has to change the time to Mondays is his business. Casting aside a good portion of the active listeners is another thing completely.

Justin harps on the information and content provided by the BN yet fail to acknowledge the information and content of the listeners. A "you are nothing without me" attitude. Justin didn't make the listeners. The listeners made you.

What BN shows have gone to the wayside? Everything but the Session. The Session is the BN. BN fans have had to either settle for only the Session or just stop listening. Alienate your listeners, the sponsors will follow suit. Just like traditional radio.

If you take what I post here literally, you're retarded. I'm here to fuck around, have a good time, and learn about beer. You mean nothing to me and I mean nothing to you.

JMHO here, I do think that the Sunday Session was a great close for a good brew day, pop the top and chill till comfortably numb. Podcast good for those nights when football was a must, watch the Panthers this year!
I think the whole operation is truly a labor of love, these guys aren't getting rich doing this. I believe they do the best they can trying to fit everyone's schedule in order to produce a good show. Who can deny they have been bringing a load of tasty meat to the table for a long time. Times change, people's nedds and lives change, Mash ended, adapt and overcome.
Who knows why they had to change, but it is probably frustrating as hell to try and do what you can to improve, meet the demands of staff and listeners and catch hell for it. With all that they have done for me and my brewing, I'll stand by em!
Beer, what all good things are built upon!

Lagering:
On tap: Wharfside Porter
On tap: Braw Jock
Planning: Sanguinity Amber Ale, Lauging Parrot Pale Ale, and Screaming Parrot IPA
