If you give me examples I can fix that.

Not sure how pricing would work out but what about amazon S3 or something like it? http://aws.amazon.com/s3/#pricing http://aws.amazon.com/cloudfront/

Or maybe you have the five most recent shows up for a week or two after broadcast then they get archived and you have to pay.

This wouldn't be an issue if J wasn't living such a lavish lifestyle.

I'm not sayin', just sayin'.

btw, I agree with Evil dude. If you want to keep the army growing, then making people pay for the early shows is a bad way to go about it. Tighter daily limits would be my preferred option.

Once or twice in the past I have sent dvds of a bunch of early shows to people that showed proof of donation to the army.

Not sure if this is kosher or not...

I listened through the last Sunday Session and was surprised to hear talk of $60/yr to get access to the whole BN archive. What surprised me even more was how it was talked about.

What are the costs to the BN for me to go on and download the whole archive? If it is a matter of covering costs, then I dont see an issue with that. Let me know what it is, and I will cover that (I have been a listener for two years now, but recently lost my computer and am having to re-download a bunch of older podcasts). Or, you could just put a download speed cap on users after the first few hours of content downloaded.

If, however, you are going to be charging more than that, own it. You have every right to charge for this content (most of it anyway - maybe not lunch meet). Please, though, dont say you need to cover cost and then charge more than that; it feels like you are not being genuine. Say you are going to make money off of it, charge what you had in mind, and then stick to it. Some people will leave, most of us will stay and bitch for a bit, and then get on with enjoying the BN and what it has to offer.

No matter what you do, though, please make sure some content is out there for the beginners. I would hate to see new membership dwindle because you have to pay to try.

Just some thoughts.

So why can't you make a button for a torrent location that records your metrics but then directs a torrent client to a distributed source? You could post archives of each old year and gather the activity via the button. The only issue would be if someone shared the link or published it but you can change it from time to time.
