Hotwire a PC power supply?

Ok I'm wanting to use a PC power supply to power 5 different fans in one box. This will give me 5 stir plates in one box with only one thing to plug into the wall.

Here is the problem. Apparently for the power supply to actually turn on it has to have some signals from a motherboard. Anyone know how to hotwire the damn thing so it comes on without a motherboard?

Thanks

Travis

Is it an AT or XT power supply? You're going to use the 12v?

my ferm. temp. chamber is still in the works, but i already rigged an ATX psu to power 2 fans and the peltier junction.
( http://www.thebrewingnetwork.com/phpBB2 ... php?t=4750 )

much to my surprise i didn't get fried in the process *and* it works! :o

Convert ATX PSU:

i didn't use any of those 3-way binding posts and instead just left the 4-pin molex's.
the psu had one of the built-in switches on the back,
so i simply soldered the green wire (from the 20/24 pin motherboard connector)
to a single black wire.
i also skimmped on the power-indicator led.
