Its malted barley safe for birds? I have some old grain I'd like to dispose of.

I assume so. I used to brew on the porch at my old apartment (split level, so ~8' off the ground). When it was time to pitch the spent grain I'd heave the trash bag over the railing to the strategically placed trash can below. A few drunken throws resulted in a few little spills from time to time & the birds were all over it. Can't say I watched them all that closely afterwards, but I never had a Stephen King moment.

It turns out it didn't matter. They were not interested.

I dumped out a shit load of spent grain after a brew session one day for the wild turkeys, and those f-ers didn't even eat them. normally those thing eat whatever is tossed out. The deer however were grazing on the spent grain and used hops, and were very happy. :asshat:
