How to get my own forum...

Thu Oct 26, 2006 11:24 am

Hey all you computer types...

I am working on creating a website for my local Fraternity Alumnus chapter. I want to put a forum up on their so that we can facilitate some communication. I noticed that this same forum type (whatever the suffix phpBB2 is) is the same format for a few different forums I watch.

So my question is, how would I go about getting this forum style for my site? Is it free software? What do I need to know? Will it work with different web site creators? The website I am working on is www.haduweb.org and the program we are using to update it is really wierd to me... not that I have all that much experience creating webpages... so any help would be appreciated!

Start here: http://www.phpbb.com

Yes.

How to work with php and MySql OR a hosting provider who wraps it all up in a pretty package for you.

Yes... and no. You can make it work with anything that allows php and mysql.
