I didn't look for an online source, but in this morning's paper there's a very short article about the postmaster general adding beer, wine & spirits to his wish list as they try to figure out how to raise revenue. Considering the USPS is a quickly sinking ship, I would bet they'll pass it in the interests of self-preservation.

...like i'm going to trust the USPS, who doesn't give a shit about customer service, to deliver glass bottle of beer without breaking them.

If they really want to make money, they should sell and transport weed!

The only carrier to ever break bottles of mine was FedEx. None of the package companies give a shit what's in your box. It's on the sender to make sure the package is unbreakable. USPS will be able to do it cheaper than the others which will be nice.

good luck getting a refund from USPS when they do break your stuff.

Luckily, out of the 50 or so times I've shipped beer, zero breakage.

I've only shipped beer a couple of times, no breaks luckily, but in general I've had the absolute worst experiences with FedEx. I order a lot of shit off the internet (cause prices on somethings are outrageous in Montucky) & over the years I'd guess an average of 3 of 5 packages from FedEx were damaged in some way or another. UPS is pricey, but I've gotten great service from them.

+1 to USPS being cheap as hell. In the article the guy was talking about having a couple different flat rate boxes specifically designed for wine & beer. My guess is you'd still have to pad them a little, but they're going to do a lot of that work for you like corrugated inserts to keep glass away from glass.

I saw that article, too, but I can't help but assume that it would only apply to licensed retailers. The official quoted said something buying wine and having it shipped home. I'm hoping the AHA can jump in and offer their opinion.
