Going to Hawaii, Oahu and Maui, looking for good beer

Tue Jul 10, 2012 9:05 pm

We are heading to Hawaii for our 10 year anniversary. We leave on Thursday and will be spending a few days on Oahu visiting. Friend of the wife's and a few sites. Most of our time will be on Maui.

I know about Maui brewing, obviously, but I have heard there is another brewpub and a some great wineries and distilleries on Maui. This may not be true but I figured you guys would know.

Any recommendations to add to my list of other cool stuff to do, including finding a great spot on the beach and drink until I finally feel no stress?

Thanks

I will be heading to Hawaii (the island) in two weeks and could also benefit from such input.

Well I'm leaving in the morning, if I don't get any advice, I'll add my own.

Gordon Biersch (Aloha Tower) on Oahu for lunch, Fish Tacos and whatever is on tap. I do it every time I'm there and this October will be no different.

10th anniversary deserves some Scratch Mai Tais at the Royal Hawaiian on the beach. Don't be a cheap arse douche bag.

Just sayin'

I go every so often. The best beer that I've found is by Maui Brewing Co. The Coconut Porter is awesome as is the Big Swell IPA. I was on Oahu, so I never got to see the brewery. They were on Drinking Made Easy last year. http://drinkingmadeeasy.com/episode-gui ... easy-maui/

The BN also talked with them at GABF in 2007. (10/22/2007)

On Hawaii, Kona brewing is great. The beers there are better than what you get from them on the mainland. I think the brew pub distributes to the other islands in kegs so get it on draft if you see it. If I recall, the bottles of Kona beers you see in HI are shipped from the mainland.

Have fun!
