Heading to San Diego

Tue Mar 20, 2012 9:14 pm

Hey guys I know a few of you live in San Diego and I will be heading there on Friday for a week and I am looking for the best beer places to head too. I am mostly looking for stuff that is right in the downtown area as I will only have a car one day and that will be to head up to Stone and probably green flash. I plan to hit up the Pizza Port that is right there...anything else I shouldn't miss?

Thanks!

Don't know what they do on site, or how close to downtown, but AleSmith and Ballast Point are two that I've heard good things about.

Start at the San Diego Brewers Guild website. They list all the breweries.

Downtown Johnny Brown's has a good tap list and they are downtown.

Karl Strauss has a downtown restaurant.

Monkey Paw Pub & Brewery is east of downtown. Haven't been there yet.

Mission Brewery is east of Petco Park.

Damn! There are a lot of places I still need to go!! I hadn't heard of The Beer Company before...

Have fun! I'll be in Vegas this weekend!!

Maybe we could meet for a brew next week... :jnj

yeah spiderwrangler I saw those...they are about 20 minutes outside San Diego...so may not be able to get to those...

Thanks for the links ZZ Mission and the Beer company seem pretty close I could probably head down to those. The beer company seems a little main stream for me but who knows..they also do not list any of the beers they make? Think that is weird.. Mission seems pretty small and has a small tasting room and looks like they make some great beer, though selection is low, but def worth checking out.

I might be too late, but if you make it to Monkey Paw, find the giant bearded guy. I am the brewer and it'd be fun to talk. :)

Not sure if you're still in town as I've been drinking my way across the UK for the past 2 weeks, but if you can make it to Mission Brewery, Monkey Paw is easily within walking distance. You can also try The Neighborhood which is located at 777 G Street.

I won't be back until April 2nd so I don't think we'll be able to get together for a beer, but have fun!
