I just don't understand the whole "we can tell you where to buy the beer" mentality. I'm sure they are trying to make it harder for relationships to be built and shutting out other stores. At least they did away with that ( is this still a law in Cali? ).

It sucks that they can't sell directly from the production brewery though...again something very foreign to me here in NH since that's where a lot of these small brewers sell from, especially initially. Hopefully all these laws can get changed for everyone.

God Bless Texas. A great step forward. I get frustrated in S.C. that restaurants and stores have to buy their beer through a distributor. Just over the N.C. line in Charlotte, they can pick up the phone and call a local brewery and have kegs delivered the same day. This is why it's very hard for me to find a good beer when I go out to eat here. I've talked to bar mngrs to no avail. Most really don't seem to care. Especially the chain restaurants. A law was passed in S.C. a few years back that allows a brewery to sell (give) you a beer on premise if you take a tour there. Raise a glass to progress.

Yeah this is almost as puzzling as going to a local bakery and not being allowed to buy their products outside of a large chain grocery store. Adding middlemen to the process is unnecessary. Oh well congrats to Jester King and the Texas craft beer scene.

Really wish the tier law was eliminated from federal and state laws. The government has no authority to dictate how products get from manufacturer to consumer.

I totally agree with you in spirit but the 21st Amendment gives state and local govts wide latitude in their regulation of alcohol sales. It even seems like states can trump all over the free speech rights of brewers in the process of regulating the industry. The messed up part about it is that the TABC allowed wineries and distilleries the ability to tell customers where to find their products but somehow treated brewers differently. I am glad that Jester King initiated the suit and that they were able to get their way.
