Hey, in case anybody cares, Surly 5 hit the bottling line today. In honor of the brewery's fifth anniversary, they're releasing a 100% bret beer in limited edition 750 ml bottles. Should be sour, funky & (if it's anywhere near as good as their other brews) delicious...

I am really looking forward to this beer. I have the sneaking suspicion that I will go bug the people at the liquor store everyday next week until they get it in. I have also been hoping for them to get the Summit anniversary ipa, but might just give up on waiting and go have it on draft somewhere.

Get as many as you can find - I think they're only producing 4500 bottles....

I just cracked open one of the two bottles that I managed to snag. Hopefully they made their way up to St. Cloud (or you made your way down here, I suppose) because it is delicious. One of the best beers I have ever had, real dark and real funky.

For anyone near the 7 Corners part of downtown Minneapolis, head out to the Republic Restaurant for a release party tomorrow. The Republic is in the old Sgt. Preston's spot right across from the Town Hall Brewery. www.republicmn.com
