Tipped Bucket Fermenter

Thu Apr 07, 2011 7:28 am

So, the wife tripped over one of my buckets last night, while checking on the baby. She was groggy and tried to get into bed, and she missed the damn bed. HA!She rarely drinks, but she is pretty friendly with the cousin. She landed hard and smacked her knee on my bucket, and they both fell over.
She said," I broke my knee and I knocked over a bucket."
So I says,"Is it okay?"
"It's okay, but it hurts alot, I'm going to go have the doctor check it out."
In my mind, I was saying to myself,"No, no sweetie. i meant the beer."(she can be a bit of a drama queen)
I bit my tongue and discreetly made it into the bedroom to check on my poor baby.
I use star san in the airlock. This morning, I took a look after she broke the news to me.The airlock was filled with beer, so I took it off, dumped it, washed, and sanitized it. I then put it back on. I don't think that anything bad will happen to the beer, I made it last week. It's a 2 Hearted-ish beer, all centennial in it. After I got the beer ordeal settled, I tended to the wife. Is that bad?

Am I to understand your fermentation bucket is next to your bed?
Me: I'm gonna drink a Boon Geuze.
SWMBO: You're a booze goon.

Thats pretty much what I got from this :D

So I take it no beer was spilled, but the airlock got some beer in it? That should be fine.

Oh, were you asking whether your beer was going to be ok, or if it was ok that you cared more about your beer than the wife?

More so about the wife.
And yes, you understand correctly, they are next to the bed. I have a 55 gallon aquarium in there. The stand has room underneath for a second tank. It is a two level jobby made out of cast iron. I usually put them under the fishies. Ran out of room yesterday, and had to put one outside of the safety zone. Guess I better get drinking to empty a keg, to free up a carboy. Hell it is National Beer Day, after all, and I finished my homework.
Naproxen for the knee. Nothing serious. She's lucky.
We will see how lucky she is in about a week!

The way I see it, you knew what was wrong with your wife, and she was fine. The beer is like your baby, lying on the floor, crying, but not able to tell you what's wrong. So you wipe it up and cradle it until it feels better. What's wrong with that?
