Taking a trip to Seattle and then Portland in early April and plan on hitting some bottle shops - what beers should I track down while I'm there - thinking Deschutes, Lagunitas, Russian River...what else should I look for?

Cascade Brewing Barrel House (PDX) is relatively new. Not many mentions of it online. Sour beer mecca. A dozen sours on tap including two straight from the barrel into your glass at all times. It's about time to hear from these guys on the Session.

Portland:
Cascade Brewing Barrel House-specialize in sour beers but make some good regulars beers as well. Spring Gose comes out today03-18-2011 - this light, slightly soured beer is spiced with sea salt, wild chamomile, lemon peel and culinary lavender. have to try Bourbonic Plague
This blend of strong dark porters was aged in oak, wine and Bourbon barrels, then blended with a dark porter that had been brewed with vanilla beans and cinnamon. The blend was then aged an additional 14 months on dates. IF THEY HAVE IT ON TAP

Bridgeport Brewery & Restaurant
Deschutes Brewery & Restaurant-Best pretzel in Portland and really good beer to boot.
Rogue
Amnesia-832 North Beech Street. Good place for a sausage dog if its not raining at night. Weather been sucking here lately.
Full Sail-307 Southwest Montgomery Street. They do special taps hear
Up Right Brewing-240 N. Broadway, Suite 002 they make some good beers
Prost- Its a bar but if you want to meet Das Boot(1L & 2L) you have to go here. http://prostportland.com/ On Mississippi

Seattle:The breweries below are my 2 favorite in Seattle. Although Red Hook in Woodinville is good to.
Mac & Jacks- http://www.macandjacks.com/index.php . One of my favorites. Can only get there beer on tap. Go by the brewery and taste their beers though. You get to keep the pint glass.

Black Raven Brewery http://www.blackravenbrewing.com - A new brewery and it's fantastic. I try and go to the brewery every time I drive up to see the in-laws. I bring back a growler or two when I visit them. Try the La Petite Mort, Trickster IPA, and their porter. They still might have their Coco Jones Coconut Brown porter on tap. They tapped it March 15. I sure wish you could bring me down a growler to Portland.

Both Mac & Jacks and Black Raven are fairly close to each other. They are in Redmond Washington goodluck drinking and finding new beers. I hope that your visit up here is great.

They always have good beers rotating and the food is killer. It is a nice neighborhood spot. I worked there in '02 when I lived there. Definately worth checking out. If you go, tell Pat (owner) that Dan Fuller sent ya! That'll throw him for a loop! :jnj
