There's a good bit within walking distance from Montgomery Bart (20-30 minutes) as well as from public transit that's right there - train, bus or ferry.
In North Beach (just up Montgomery and Columbus streets) is La Trappe* (good belgian beer bar), a Rogue tap house and Church Key (small, but good selection). I'd do La Trappe (beers and dinner) and Rogue one night.
On the other side of Market Street - about the same distance is 21st Amendment*, Public House at the ball park, Gordon Biersch (not worth the time IMO) and Thirsty Bear (again, not a fave). More of a walk or a short cab ride is City Beer Store* on Folsom. - I'd do City Beer or 21A another night or both.
A bus ride (71 Noriega or 6 Parnassus heading west on Market) will take you to Toronado* and Magnolia Brewing Company* - I'd do both one night.
Bart will take you to Oakland (Pacific Brewing, Revolution Cafe*, The Trappist*), Berkeley (Triple Rock*, Jupiter) and Hayward (The Bistro where they have the double IPA fest and Buffalo Bills [correct me if I'm wrong someone - I'm SF based]). - I'd probably stay in the city if it was me, but the * places are pretty good.
You can also take the Larkspur ferry from the Ferry Building at the foot of Market Street to Marin Brewing Company in Larkspur - you'll get a tour of the bay, go right past Alcatraz and be delivered within a 10 minute walk of Marin Brewing. - I'd do this on your saturday to get the bay views and the good beers in.
Hope you enjoy the trip!
Cheers
Thanks a bunch chopper. Exactly what I was looking for...some opinions on places to hit. The Trappist (missed it as NHC), Toronado, Magnolia and 21A were places I was thinking about. Does La Trappe also do Belgian cuisine? That would hit the spot (believe it or not, there's an excellent Belgian-style restaurant here in Omaha - check out Dario's if you're ever lost in space Omaha). Marin sounds like a great idea with the Bay views as a bonus. What about EJ Faire? Is it close to MoreBeer?
Lot's of great choices... not enough time
