Dr Bamforth lectures on CD

Tue Nov 23, 2010 6:14 pm

I was at the local library looking for books on tape for the drive I have to make tomorrow and I found Dr. Bamforth's class on the "Brewmaster's Art." I look forward to listening to this set of lectures on my drive to the Smokies tomorrow. Check if your local library has them. If not, implore them to purchase the set.

it's on itunes for $17.95 (CAD)

worth the purchase? i listened to a bit of the preview and it sounds like it may be a bit of a beginners guide to beer making.

It is also on Amazon's Audible. You can get 2 free audiobook downloads with the trial membership and you just have to cancel before the 30 day trial ends for it to be free.

The history, the development and mergers of the big brewers, and the contributions of brewing to the broader world of science is very fascinating. The brewing aspects are extremely fundamental. Likewise, he did discuss some reactions and processes that were a bit detailed (and for driving cross-country, a bit boring).

I got it at the library, and am extremely cheap, I am pretty sure I wouldn't pay for it. I'd probably go the audible route and get other "books" for a long drive or scout out your local library.

I started a thread on another forum about one of his observations that he makes in one of his lectures. Check it out if you have time:
