Have you guys heard about this place? They brew in Iowa and ship wort to the 13 restaurants, where they add yeast, ferment, filter, carbonate and serve.

The beer is not that good, with the exception of the bock.

It is an interesting idea. How much money could you save if you only need to buy one brewery and stock 13 other locations with cellermen who have been taught how to handle yeast. Not having to store hops and grain is a huge money saver.

Now if they would make better beer.

The "brewer" from the local granite city came to one of our homebrew club's meetings last year. He brought us a couple of growlers of beer. We politely drank his beer (after all he did say we could keep those nice growlers), but after he left we agreed that his was the worst beer of the evening. It wasn't bad beer, just not up to the quality of any of the homebrews.

Wichita recently got one Granite City and are about to get a second one nearby. The beer is still a bit better than drinking Miller-Bud-Coors, but it's a bit freaky to drink a beer brewed in one state and fermented in another...
