I called it a "test batch." Brewed the same beer again the next day, and everything went perfect. I made sure my friends who were over all knew what happened, and after having 5 people ask, "Is the spigot closed?", I decided it was safe to transfer.
I'm happy to report that I now have 6 gallons of Ordinary Bitter bubbling away in my temp controlled fridge.
