Going to Hawaii, Oahu and Maui, looking for good beer

On Hawaii, Kona brewing is great. The beers there are better than what you get from them on the mainland. I think the brew pub distributes to the other islands in kegs so get it on draft if you see it. If I recall, the bottles of Kona beers you see in HI are shipped from the mainland.

+1 on this. Did the big island for our honeymoon, it was a great time. The beer from Kona on the islands is superb, learned during the tour that their mainland bottled stuff is done via contract brewing. Anyways, we did the tour and tasting and it was a great time.

Best brew by far is Maui Brewing Co. While on Oahu Kona Brewing Co has a restaurant, there is Gordan Biersch, and there is a Yardhouse in Waikiki.

Well we are here. Spent first couple of day on Oahu. Now in Maui. Did the tourist snorkeling and parasailing yesterday and today. Mom and my Wife have massages this afternoon so I'm at the Maui Brewpub. The brewery is closed on Monday's and luckily I called before I left and sat an the horrible Lahania construction traffic, because I forgot it was Monday. It's vacation, not a surprise.

Anyway. Great beer, great selection of brewpub only beers. Worth the trip.

I will second Maui Brewing Co. Beers. Coconut porter was amazing.

The big island (Hawaii) also has a brewpub in the town of Waimea/Kamuela called the brewhouse that has some really good beers and down Hilo side is Mehana brewery that has a small tasting room.
