I tried to call in last night to give some more specifics, but was not able to do so.
The deadline will be Sunday the 4th of December at midnight, so everyone that has already signed up will get a list of names on Monday the 5th to ship out as soon as you are able. We moved it up following Bug's suggestion of trying to avoid the last minute Xmas mailing rush.
For anyone new to this thread that wants to join, Pythoner is out of town for a bit, so send your PM to me and I'll keep track of things.
If anyone is new to shipping, it's been covered multiple times in the show, but here are the basics:
-Do not use USPS, go with UPS or FedEx (although some here have expressed a preference for UPS), but if you tell them what it is, they won't take it.
- Make sure that each bottle is securely and completely padded. Bubble wrap works well, secured with a strip of packaging tape. Bottles need to be buffered from each other, as well as from the sides of the box. Each bottle should go into a zip top plastic bag to contain liquid in case of breakage.
- Use a good quality cardboard box, and although you hear it a lot, I don't label it with "Yeast Samples" or anything else, just send it.
- If you WANT the person you are sending to to know who you are on the forums, feel free to include whatever information you want (A note or letter about the beer, a poem, etc.). A lot of us would be interested to see the recipe, so if you've got recipe sheets, feel free to send them to. At the very least, provide some sort of labeling so that your recipient isn't playing homebrew roulette. If you don't wish your name to be know and want to keep Secret Santa secret, you aren't required to reveal yourself.
