Yeah. What I thought.

Yeah. What I thought.

If a homebrewer "had the balls to label his beer in a professional manner and have it sold at liquor stores" he would put the liquor store at risk for losing their license. If said homebrewer produced an alcoholic beverage and sold it without paying the appropriate taxes to the Feds and the state, then said homebrewer would be a moonshiner and subject to the full force of the law.

No homebrewer can sell to any retailer without a Federal license and a state license. And no liquor store wanting to keep their license would buy from any homebrewer.

Can we please end this subject here?

I say that only partly tongue in cheek. I'd love to see someoone who is focused on breaking the law work within it, use the credibility of organizations like the AHA to invoke change in laws that resrict us as homebrewers. Use the system, don't screw it, the system always has a bigger Dick McLargeHuge (to play on your name) :-)

Little people can (with determination) make big things happen.

Your right to a point. The way I see it is that before homebrewing was made legal there were still people homebrewing! They were knowingly breaking the law. The same goes for homebrewers in MS and AL...it is illegal for them to currently homebrew. The more we "push" either through the system or outside of it is how change happens. I don't care if it is raising the speed limit, some states legalizing pot, or homebrewing. Change occurs when people push the limits and the government, or the people, decide that the law needs to be changed. As a side note just imagine if in the future homebrewing was made illegal again.....would you still brew even if it was against the law?

What has a greater risk of making homebrew illegal:

1. Quietly brewing and sharing with friends while working the legal channels to change policy.

2. Selling brew illegally and bringing the focus of law enforecement on one's activity?

Pragmatism, it works!
