I'm so poor I have to make my own beer. It finally worked...

Sun Jun 25, 2006 10:28 pm

Yesterday I was out in the brewery (my garage) and a security systems salesman stopped by.

He was giving me his best speal and he happened to notice a couple of ribbons I had and asked me what they were for. I told him beer competition, he was dually impressed and continued with his sales pitch.

Of course being in the brewery I was appropriately dressed in my holey jeans, bleach spotted T-shirt and wearing my lucky brewing shoes (rotted old loafers that barely stay on my feet). When he finished his pitch he asked me if I would like to sign up for the system. I said, "Look at me, I can't afford shoes and I am so poor I have to make my own beer and you want me to buy your system.

Without a word he just turned and walked away. I almost felt sorry for him. I should have offered him a homebrew.

Ha! Good one. I can't believe he was just walking around cold-calling like that.
Be wary of strong drink. It can make you shoot at tax collectors -- and miss.

All the time man!

I get guys coming by wanting to clean my carpets.
Sell me security systems (signs for my yard really)
Cleaners for anything

It seems that if I am at home sick someone will stop by. It was worse in KC then here but it still happens.

That's funny. I haven't had travelling salesmen drop by, but being Catholic, I get the rounds from the Jehovah's Witnesses, who seem to think the Catholics are going to hell before the Devil Worshipers (never quite figured that one out yet...) I'd be fun to offer them a homebrew next time they stop by and see their reaction!

Really, thats interesting... no wait I really don't care. Though that is a redeeming characteristic about them. I've never understood the Christian sects that disallow alcohol. But then this is a beer forum not a religion forum so f- it.

I had the mormons come by during a brew session recently. They asked what I was doing and I told them making beer. I offered them one and they said they were not aloud to. Yea that was evil of me. I then told them that "Jesus turned water into wine, Im just doing the best I can and making water into beer."
