Magazine Articles?

Thu May 11, 2006 4:29 pm

I'm going to write a couple more magazine articles either for Zymurgy and/or Brew Your Own.

Are there any topics that you'd like to see covered?
I hope my post helped in some way. If not, please feel free to contact me.

Jamil, you have covered it many times before on the forum, but what about proper yeast pitching? Lager and ale yeast for for 5 gallon batches. High gravity beers?

What about writing about your trip to Europe less the chocolate boobs?

For BYO, how about blending different brands of extract to get the right level of fermentability for a given style.

For zymurgy, how about the BJCP program. How to get started, how you progress, what judging is like, how going through all that can really improve your beer.

"Secondary? I don't need no steenking secondary!"

How to build a cool room - how much it costs to build, how much it costs to keep cool, and what nifty things you can do there of which us chest freezer and bucket-and-towel guys can only dream!

I think your whirlpool chiller would be appreciated by a wider audience, too.

I like the cold room idea.

How about yeast starter procedures for lagers? Cold, warm, does it matter? Does lager yeast mutate if grown at too high a temperature as Dan Gordon suggests?

Your whirlpool is pretty awesome, that would make a good "how to" article.
