Beer Articles About Spreading the Joy of Beer

Tue Jan 29, 2013 1:41 pm

I've been doing a bit of writing lately for the blog of my local brewery. Their content wasn't being updated consistently, so I offered to help out. So far they've published two of my articles. I attribute much of my love of beer and my desire to share beer information with the world to the Brewing Network, so I figured I would share the posts here as well.

The first article is The Art of Visiting Breweries http://blog.nightshiftbrewing.com/2012/12/04/the-art-of-visiting-breweries/, and it's about the benefits of visiting breweries while traveling along with how to go about doing it.

The second article is Flying With Beer http://blog.nightshiftbrewing.com/2013/01/28/flying-with-beer/ where I debunk the myth of bottles exploding due to air pressure changes on commercial flights and provide some practical advice for flying with beer. The thing that I think you guys might find useful is a table of full beer vessel weights which should be handy to all those that would like to estimate the weight of their beer packages before shipping them out.

If you take a look at these articles, please let me know what you think.

Nice! Main thing I'd add is putting backed bottles inside ziptop bags in your suitcase. I'm less concerned about getting beer from a breakage on my clothes than giving the baggage folks a reason to open up my suitcase if it's leaking out.

Thanks Spiderwrangler. I've done the bottle in a zip bag before, but since I've only had one bottle break in about 100, I stopped doing that. Still, it is a prudent thing to do. I've had my bags opened up more often than not, and it wasn't because of anything leaking in my bags. Hopefully this article will get more people shifting local beer around, and sharing one of the great pleasures in life.
