New Beer Calculation Site

Sat Mar 03, 2012 5:00 pm

Looking for some feedback on my new brew caclulator I developed. Here is the temporary link http://beercalc.no-ip.org/

The site will be up and down over the next week as I finish up development, but is stable enough to start letting people check it out.

Any feedback is welcome!

Thanks,
Grant

Grant-

Looks like a decent start.
I assume you know you can't change Alpha or pppg.
Not sure if you know the pulldown combo box for weight only shows 1 digit.
You should add mash steps/temps, too.
Also, you should allow folks to choose rager/tinseth for their hop calcs and which SRM calculation they want.

BTW, do I know you? Do you live in WA and work/used to work for a big SW company?
Or, did you happen to grow up in RI, in which case I think we probably went to the same HS.

Hey steve,

Thanks for the suggestions. I definetly need to allow people to choose the type of formula they prefer. The weight values were a mistake that will get fixed shortly.

I think I am a different grant hall. Grew up in northern california and live in portland now. I have never met another grant hall though. Strange coincidence.

Yeah, funny I know 2 of them, and now you sorta make 3.

Ha!

Welcome to the site.
BTW, you gonna help judge/steward NHC 1st round? I know we need the help.

I am not sure yet. I might be out of town that week. If not though I will definitely volunteer.

Hi everyone,

Just got the site up to a more permanent spot. Still working on it. I have updated the look and feel of the site considerably. This week I am re-writing the database part of the app so for now I only put in a few ingredients. You will also notice I have it so you can override the default values for things like Lovibond or PPG... This will make it so you can tweak to get the values really specific to what you are using. Feedback is appreciated :aaron
