I do my thorough sanitizing before hand and leave my carboy upside down in an old bucket, with the shoulders resting on a food storage container to let it drip out as much as possible while I am doing other stuff. Usually by the time I'm done, the amount of foam is negligible, but most of what I've heard says that it isn't really an issue. I also do that before putting my carboys away after a brew. Star San drips out and dries up much more readily than water. Before using it, I'd always have a few drops of water that clung to the bottom of the carboy, even after quite a long time upside down.

I do that too Bill.

Perhaps an improvement in my process is in order. I usually sanitize the carboy while chilling, I guess I could do it earlier and foil over the top. I store them with foil on the top after cleaning and drying, so the foil is even there waiting for a dunk in the sanitizer.

Good info! I always have trouble getting the carboys dry too.

Thanks fellas. You are the bee's knees.

I place my better bottles on their side (per the manufacturers recommendation) to dry. If not, I can have moisture in there for weeks.
