Brew #2 in the carboy

Made my second batch yesterday - B3's Matt Byrnldsen's English Ale kit. New pre-chiller worked great for that last temp drop from 80F to 68F. Will need a lot more ice to make the drop for lagering, but that is down the road. Also made a couple of racks of pork spare ribs on the smoker and had several friends over last night. Smoking and brewing really work well together. One friend brought over a couple different bottles of his homebrew to share as well.

Hit starting gravity within a point (bought an one gallon measuring pitcher and discovered I was a little more than 1/2 gallon short on water on my first batch two weeks ago, which explains the .05 too high starting gravity). First brew is still sitting at 68F after two weeks. Will let is sit another week or two before moving to the keg - tiny bubbles still coming through, but since gravity is higher than recipe called for probablly good to give it extra time. Can't wait to taste my first carbonated brew!

Moved in a ferment fridge and playing around with sink location before I start permanent plumbing. Once I get an internet connection out there I can get a bunch of work done as I also listen to the session.

Glad to hear it's going smoothly, Bill. Let us know how that first brew turns out.

Hey bcmaui, how is the brewing going out there on the rock? My better half is Hawaiian (or what passes for Hawaiian these days) and has family all over the islands. They're originally from Lanai during the pineapple days and still have a little plantation house we stay at for a couple of weeks or so each summer. I was thinking I might do a little brewing with the neighbors next time I'm there. Do you have the stuff shipped in from the mainland or is there a homebrew supply store on Maui? If there is one on Maui I could take the ferry to pick up the supplies.

I order all the supplies from the mainland at the moment. I live in a little plantation house with a few rooms added on.

I'd call it a double, at least.
