I don't have a LHBS here in Okinawa that's why I am asking the question. I have tried more beer and have had trouble with getting the shipping and handling straight for here to Okinawa but will try again and see if they have resolved the issue. All the post have been a help Jamil everyone one on here has always been a help to me.

Wow that's crazy. My LHBS isn't always the cheapest on everything but I think they sell 50# bags of 2 row for like $45.

Amen Brother!

I can't stress enough how important your local homebrew shop is to homebrewing. Do everything you can to support them, even if it costs a couple extra bucks here and there. For the stuff they can't get for you, our sponsors are the best in the business!

My local Home Brew supply for Hops,Yeast and Grains cuase they are fresher (plus the Ballast Point tasting room is there too). B3 for Cleansers, Keg parts, DME, LME, and hard to find items. Craigslist for refrigerators, cornelius kegs, stripper poles etc.

Ditto what JZ said. The LHBS, at least mine, provides great advice and usually is the same price or cheaper than Northern Brewer. Yes there are things I still go to a "sponsor of the BN" for that my LHBS does not have or if I order enough to make the shipping worth it or free. And if I'm in a bind and need yeast or ingredients quick I'm glad the LHBS is there.

That's right the stripper pole is from craigslist. :D

I have a couple really good LHBS's around here. One of them (Larry's) sponsors one of my home brew clubs (Impaling Alers). The club dues are 15 bucks a year. If you are a member, the LHBS gives you 15 percent off on all your purchases, which are already the best prices around. It's a great deal, and they are great people.

Yeah, supporting the local folks is big. Keep in mind, those LHBS are the folks who kept the craft of brewing alive during the dark ages. We're here today because people like that spread the gospel of homebrew, and helped to kick start the craft beer market we see today. For bulk, I'll buy online, but you can't go wrong shopping locally.
