Oh, taking JP with you, eh? That's nice. But can somebody explain to me why the Sierra Club hates him so much? It's those face pubes.... isn't it? I KNEW IT!

p.s. I was a Sierra Club member in California many years ago as I was lead to believe that is was an apolitcal environmental group concerned with the outdoors. I quit when I learned otherwise.

Isn't it a proven medical fact that brewing in the presence of such intense face pubes exponentially increases the risk of infecting your beer with E. pubi.

Might make a damn fine lambic, though.

There is a reasonable Homebrew store on Oahu and he has a good selection of malts, grains and extracts as well as yeast. As for the locals island to island, you need to remember that they used to fight wars against each other and had human sacrifices. What we have now is minor.

It's interesting how your interests and timing are parrell to mine. I am just now starting my homebrewing adventure this weekend but have wanted to for years and then I found the Brewing Network. I also have a offset smoker on a trailer and regularly smoke ribsm pork butt and anything else that fits in it. I am also in construction and started am already working on a full grain system before I have my first extract under my belt. I have spent hours reading the forumns and looking at pix and working on the little devices such as the keg cleaner.

I'm also from California 15 years ago.

Next time we are over on Maui, I'll let you know ahead of time and we can see if we can hook up for a beer or visa versa.

Congratulations on the beers, how did they turn out?

Beer #1 was too sweet - I screwed up and did not have enough water. Probably not enough yeast for the higher gravity, or enough yeast in general. This was brewed in late October 2008.

Beer #2 is a little better

Beer #3 is awesome, dry hopped 8 days ago and tasted it for the first time yesterday - it tastes just like a $6 bottle of Rogue.

Beer #4 was just moved to a keg - it also tastes very good, but needs carbonation. This was my first beer with Fermaide K yeast nutrient.

Beer #5 is sitting in the carboy ferment refrigerator

Beer #6 I just brewed Saturday and is bubbling away in that same fridge.

I'm having a blast and want to move over quickly to all grain sometime this year, but I am juggling a few other home improvement projects first before I go back to the brewshed upgrades.

That's interesting we have a common experience - we may know some folks in common as well, but I have spent very little time on Oahu. Most of my work has been on Maui, Kauai, Lanai and the Big Island and except for a 6 month stint on Kauai, I've always been based here. For the last 10 years I've been doing this:
